Biography
From a young age my life was centered around competition and being the best at anything that could be turned into a competition against others and myself. After nagging my parents to sign me up to the local rugby league team and being met with a firm no, I was thrown into a local soccer team to start my athletic journey and quickly fell in love with the sport.
Giving it my all to become the best I could and turn my love affair with the sport into a full time career, like many, I was met with injuries/illness that prevented me from taking the step from semi-pro to professional. What this did was spark in me a deep desire to understand what makes athletes tick from a psychological standpoint and how an athlete can consistently be at their best despite the distractions and challenges that life throws at us, because let’s face it, talent and hard work are great ingredients but only take most people so far.
The sport did afford me the opportunity to travel the world and experience the competition in other countries. After a few years in America where I was also given the opportunity to study factors that affect performance at CSUSB, I returned home and dedicated my time to coaching and psychology.
Graduating CSUSB with an Honours degree in Psychology, I completed a Masters in Coaching Psychology at the University of Sydney, and completed my internship to attain full registration as a psychologist. My passion and interest has and alway will be within the high performance space.
I have been fortunate enough to coach in football (soccer) at the first grade semi professional level and earn promotions, first with SD Raiders into NPL2 and then with NWS Spirit into NPL 1 where I am still coaching.
Here I also work across the club with coaches, athletes and parents as the Performance Psychologist, assisting each one with the challenges associated with raising/becoming high performing athletes and how to create a high performing mentality. I am fortunate enough to also work with athletes, not just at home but abroad across a number of sports, and my journey brings me here, to Avolve Performance, where I have the opportunity to add to the amazing work of Matt, Angus and the team to help deliver psychological support to add the final touches to help you be the best version of yourself.
